About DocLien

Coordinated care for personal injury

DocLien exists to remove the medical coordination burden from personal injury law firms — so injured clients get treated, and firms get the records they need.

Our mission

We coordinate medical care for personal injury patients on behalf of the law firms that represent them. When an attorney takes on an injured client, DocLien handles everything on the medical side — getting the client to the right specialists, coordinating treatment, retrieving records and bills, and keeping the firm updated.

Care is arranged on a lien or Letter of Protection (LOP), so patients receive treatment with no out-of-pocket cost and no health insurance required. Providers are paid from the case settlement.

The case for coordination

Personal injury cases depend on the medical record. But getting an injured client treated — finding specialists who accept liens or Letters of Protection (LOPs), scheduling across providers, chasing records — is exactly the work that pulls a firm's staff away from practicing law. That gap is where treatment stalls, records fragment, and case value suffers.

DocLien closes that gap. We bring operational discipline to the medical side of a personal injury case so the care happens, the documentation is complete, and the firm stays focused on the legal work.

Values

What we stand for

The principles that shape how we coordinate care and work with firms.

Responsiveness

Speed matters. We move quickly to get clients treated and to keep firms informed.

Patient dignity

Injured people are often stressed and in pain. We treat every client with patience and respect.

Clinical appropriateness

We coordinate — we never direct care. All clinical decisions belong to treating providers.

Transparency with counsel

Firms get clear, timely information about treatment, records, and billing throughout the case.

How DocLien began

DocLien started inside a personal injury practice. Day after day, the same bottleneck showed up: a client with a strong case, a clear injury, and no realistic way to pay for treatment up front. The attorneys could build the legal matter, but the medical side kept stalling. Specialists who accepted liens or Letters of Protection (LOPs) were hard to find. Appointments slipped. Records came in piecemeal. Staff spent hours on the phone with clinics instead of working cases.

The team kept asking the same question: why is there no operational layer between the firm and the medical providers? Insurance companies have care coordinators. Plaintiffs' firms, handling some of the most medically complex cases, were left to improvise.

DocLien was built to close that gap. The idea was straightforward: stand up a dedicated coordination team that treats the medical side of a personal injury case with the same discipline a firm brings to the legal side. Match each client to the right specialist on a lien or Letter of Protection (LOP), keep treatment on schedule, collect complete records, and report back to counsel at every step.

What began as an internal solution for one firm became a service other practices started asking for. Today DocLien works with attorneys and providers across the country, but the mission hasn't changed: get injured people treated, get the documentation right, and let firms focus on practicing law.
